JEEN-YUHS: A giant in the mirror

This jeen-yuhs project sparked a beautiful mentorship with the legendary filmmakers Coodie and Chike. As a Chicago native, and someone who grew up in the same South Shore neighborhood as Ye formerly known as Kanye West, this story hits close to home. It feels personal. It reflects the city, the grind, and how friends really show up for each other long before the world is watching. We wanted to create a space that felt honest and comfortable, like friends sitting down and talking for real. Bringing together comedian and fellow Chicago native Deon Cole with directors Coodie and Chike, the conversation opens up about what it truly took to make the documentary. The years of patience, trust, and belief it took to tell the story the right way. The result is more than just a conversation about a film. It is a moment that captures Chicago culture, legacy, and what it means to document history while you are still living it.
